Hospice Wellington –   Volunteer Spotlight

There are many organizations in Guelph and Wellington County that enhance lives and provide much needed services to the community. One such organization is Hospice Wellington. Since 1980, Hospice Wellington has provided passionate care, emotional support and practical assistance to individuals and families facing a life-threatening illness, extending through bereavement.

Hospice Wellington is a registered charity that operates primarily through private donations and fund-raising initiatives. Funding is also provided by United Way, The Waterloo-Wellington Local Health Integration Network and Waterloo-Wellington Community Care Access Centre.

Such an organization depends heavily on volunteers to support their programs, committee work, raising funds and advocating about Hospice’s work in the community. The majority of the approximately 300 volunteers are involved in community Services Programs. If you are interested in volunteering with Hospice Wellington you can visit their website .

In addition, Hospice Wellington continues to be a volunteer-supported organization. Our clients and their families benefit from more than 16,000 hours of volunteer support for almost 700 individuals in the community and over 250 residents per year.

Margaret Stewart House is situated in the grounds of Wellington Hospital, Newtown, within easy walking distance of the treatment centre.
