Joy SloanVolunteer Spotlight

Sometimes you meet a volunteer that keeps on giving and giving. This month I am going to highlight just such a volunteer who is always willing to share her talents and her time with others. Joy Sloan moved into the Elliott Community in 2012 and immediately became a volunteer as a way to be involved and meet new people. Since then she has contributed over 1075 hours. She volunteers in the tuck shop and plays the piano for chapel services and music therapy programs. In November,  Joy has been the recipient of The Smith Valeriote Volunteer of the Month Award for her enthusiastic volunteering at The Elliott Community.

The Elliott Community offers many interesting volunteer opportunities. Anyone of just about any age can volunteer and support their many programs. The following opportunities are presently listed on the Volunteer Centre website. http://www.volunteergw.ca

  • Mobility Bus Driver
  • Dining Room Assistant
  • Fitness Room Supervisor
  • Musician Volunteer
  • Tuck Shop Volunteer
  • Friendly Visitor Volunteer
  • Recreation Program Volunteer
  • Pet Visitor Volunteer

You too can make a difference by volunteering in your community!
