Grand River Trails Association
Do you enjoy hiking, getting out in nature and meeting others who enjoy these activities? If so, then you may be interested in joining and supporting the Grand Valley Trails Association (GVTA). This is an organization that is new to me, but was actually established in 1972 and has grown steadily ever since. Their extensive trail system now stretches the length of The Grand River Watershed. From Alton in the north to Lake Erie in the south.
The ‘Mission’ on their website reads as follows. The Grand Valley trail Association is a volunteer organization committed to establishing footpaths within Ontario’s Grand River Watershed in order to promote public enjoyment and protection of the natural environment and human history of this Canadian Heritage River.
If you are interested in group hikes you can look at the ‘Hike and Event Calendar’ on their website to see a list of upcoming fall hikes. There are hikes for all levels, from easy to difficult. Fall is the perfect time for hiking as the days cool and the fall colours brighten the diverse landscape of the Grand River Valley. Visit the website below to learn more about this great organization.
Volunteer are always welcome in an organization such as this.
